The title of today's article is the book I just published. It's a small book that contains in its eight chapters the same number of articles published on this blog, seven of them in the series about Life from last February to September. The eighth is the post about the future from February 2023. And the epilogue is the post from October 2024.
The book is available on our website for readers. I have made a short print run in Spanish with the publisher Bubok, which is available on the publisher's distribution platform in case anyone would like to buy it in paperback or eBook. The book is also available at Amazon. And we are working in the English edition.
As I indicated in the post about the future, I will try to make the book a means to reach people who can see my ideas and, if they find them valid and useful, share them so that they can be adopted and used to the greatest possible extent and scope.
Why this book?
The two laws and the universal ethical principle are now much closer to being realized and accepted than in 2000 when I wrote the first article, and than in 2015 when I published the first book. And I hope that in a couple of years they will go viral, "discovered" by some American or Chinese scholar.
On my website, there's a section titled "Objections" where the objections received up to 2019 are compiled and answered. Today, those initial objections have been overcome, and biologists "see" the basic idea without any problems as it affects living beings in general. But they don't go into its theoretical and practical uses for humans. They leave that to the philosophers. And the philosophers continue to argue some objections.
It seems that the biggest problem is to see and assume that, like all living beings, our vital purpose is the survival of our species/family and that, therefore, all human living beings have the duty to do what is good/best for this purpose. A duty that, for the most part, ordinary people are already fulfilling. And in many cases, to excess. But it requires some major changes to be made by the thinking leaders who create and implement ethics and laws.
The idea seems so important to me that I'm still amazed it hasn't been seen until now, so I have doubts about its truth. Or whether it's not seen because of its very obviousness and the mental shift that accepting it requires. Despite all this, I continue to search for someone, a person or group, with the capacity to test it and, if necessary, to embrace and disseminate it, despite the enormous change that its use would entail and the great difficulty of doing so. The Report on Life human is written as a basis for this possible contrast.
The first six chapters of the book are devoted to presenting the two biological ideas or laws and presenting them in a way that can be viewed, and if necessary, accepted or discussed, by philosophers and ethicists in general. The final two chapters address the theoretical and practical uses and applications of the ideas and are dedicated to the scholars and leaders who would apply them.
Who is it preferably intended for?
Initially, I would try to send the books in English and Spanish, in paperback or via the web, to the potential global recipients listed below:
The heads of state of the major nations. About 30/40.
The Directors of UN Agencies and public and private organizations that study global issues: climate, hunger, disasters, etc.
The leaders of the major religions. In the Catholic Church, the Pope and the Prefects of some Dicasteries and organizations most interested in these issues. I have more trouble finding information for other religions, but I'll try.
The Presidents of the Academies of Sciences and Humanities.
The rectors of the affected universities in each relevant country.
Presidents or Directors of Think Tanks interested in these topics.
Those responsible for Foundations with an interest in these ideas.
The Grand Masters of the most important Masonic Lodges.
The directors of public and private entities or organizations with an interest in and capacity for analysis and dissemination. For example, the Elcano Institute, the World Economic Forum, the Bildenberg Club, the Club of Rome, etc., and the most important political parties in some countries, major global media companies, major publishing houses, specialized newspapers and magazines, etc.
People and entities that we know have interest and expertise in these issues, whether they are already known or those we learn about through newspapers, TV, magazines, books, the Internet, etc.
As I've said many times, those who set the course are the creators of ethics and group leaders, and that's why I try to find someone from these groups who sees these ideas and, if necessary, embraces them and "pushes" them to make them visible and operational.
For our part, if any of the readers of this blog would like to participate in this discussion work, they can send me their opinion, positive or negative, on the validity of these ideas and any doubts they may have, especially on the only question that seems to present them: whether the universal ethical principle is true and, consequently, whether we have the implicit duty to do what we can to prevent the species from becoming extinct.
And also, if any of our readers are related to individuals or entities from the groups mentioned above, please send them the link to the book on the website, or let us know so we can do it for you. We hope the English version will be available in a couple of months.
